How often you need your gutters cleaned depends on your property and how many trees are nearby. For most homes in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, we recommend a minimum of twice a year — ideally in late autumn after the main leaf fall, and again in spring before the wet season begins. Properties with heavy tree coverage — particularly gum trees, plane trees and liquid ambers common in suburbs like Kew, Balwyn, Templestowe and Eltham — may need cleaning three or four times a year to stay on top of it. Leaving gutters unattended for more than 12 months significantly increases the risk of blockages, overflow and water damage to your property. Regular cleaning is far cheaper than the repairs that follow neglect.
